Liver Cancer

Development of Liver and Hepatocellular carcinoma organoid lines

This is a KESS 2 research project carried out through work done by a dedicated student at PhD level, supervised by an academic team at Cardiff University who work in partnership with Cellesce. KESS 2 is a pan-Wales higher level skills initiative led by Bangor University on behalf of the higher education sector in Wales. It is part-funded by the Welsh Government’s European Social Fund (ESF).

This project focuses on the development of Liver and Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-derived organoid lines, and will be conducted in collaboration with the University’s School of Biosciences. This project aims to establish and characterise novel patient-derived liver organoid lines, which can be subsequently used for drug toxicity and metabolism studies, as well as to screen new anti-cancer therapies.
